Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I get a
home inspection?
A: When purchasing a new or previously owned home, you may experience stress and even a bit of uncertainty. You may want to know if the home will hold up over time and what kind of repairs might be needed in the near future. One Wall At A Time will conduct a thorough inspection, carefully looking at each wall, ceiling and system to give you a snap shot of what the home's systems look like at this moment. We are on the lookout for clues as to what may be happening as the home ages. We will provide you with insights to help you determine the best course of action.
Can anyone have a family member look at a house to tell me if there are any problems?
A: Yes, but it is a mistake to do this. There are highly skilled people who might be good at looking at a few elements of a home. At One Wall At A Time, we have been trained to specifically look at the whole house and all of its systems. We find those deficiencies that can cost you a great deal of money and contribute additional stress to your life. We have the knowledge and the eye for details to find those pesky problems. In addition, we inspect those hard to reach areas such as attics and crawlspaces.
How long does a home inspection take and when will we get the report?
A: It typically takes about 2.5 to 4 hours but has been known to take longer if it is a larger house or if the systems are older and may require more evaluation.
A: You should typically receive the report within 24 hours of the inspection. We produce a checklist style report with comments and photographs which we will email to you.
